Greece 2007

For 21 days the Kaltsikeses welcomed me to their home and took me on a wonderful motor trip of Greece. I have known Fran since the early 70’s when she worked with me in St. Vital. When she left teaching she married Pandusus, a professor in the field of Agriculture. They moved to Greece, his homeland, 18 years ago and established themselves, he as a professor at the University in Athens, she as a private teacher of English as a second language.

Both now retired, they had the time to take me on this trip which started from their home in Athens, then north, past Thermopele, then diagonally north west to Meteora (unbelievable!), on to Metsovo and Ioannina (up in the North east corner of the country), then east across the province of Macedonia to Thessaliniki. From Thessaloniki we turned back south and worked our way back to Athens.

I then took a 3-day commercial tour of the Peloponnese area of the country (southwest) and saw Mycenae, Olympia and  Delphi. My goal was to take a good look at main-land Greece (Betty & I saw the islands in the 70’s) and see some famous antiquities. I got all I could dream of in spades. In large part due to the kindness of Fran and Pandusus.
